Louis Perlmutter, a senior advisor to Corporate Partners, a private equity fund affiliated with the investment bank Lazard, is a retired senior partner of Lazard. He has been chairman of the board of trustees of Brandeis University and the American Jewish Congress, and the chairman of the executive committee of the United Nations Association of the U.S.A. He is a director of the Charles H. Revson Foundation and his current memberships include the Council on Foreign Relations, board of fellows (directors) of Harvard Medical School, Board of Directors of Harvard Medical International, the advisory board of Foreign Affairs, trustee of the Blaustein Institute for Human Rights and the committee of visitors of the University of Michigan Law School. He has received honors from The Phoenix House Foundation, The Israel Policy Forum, The World Federation of United Nations Associations, and the American Jewish Committee. His areas of expertise include international finance, economics, and foreign policy with a focus on the Middle East. Mr. Perlmutter received a B.A. degree from Brandeis University, from which he later received an honorary L.H.D., and a J.D. degree from the University of Michigan Law School. Previously a leading investment banker who served for over 20 years as a Senior Partner of Lazard Freres, retiring at the end of 1999 as Executive Managing Director and thereafter serving as a Limited Managing Director from 2000 to 2005. Acted as principal financial and strategic adviser to a number of the largest multinational corporations in the world, representing bidders, target companies, and independent directors in many of the major corporate transactions over the past 25 years. On many occasions has lectured, written, and testified on business, financial, and economic issues.
Before joining Lazard Freres as a Senior Partner, served as Senior Vice President of White Weld & Co., where he created and headed one of the first merger and acquisition departments on Wall Street. When White Weld was acquired by Merrill Lynch, became Managing Director and head of the combined firms’ Mergers and Acquisitions Department.
